two projects, and two calls for participation

22 Feb

It’s here. Two projects, and two calls for submissions.

Remaking Moby-Dick is open for participation through May 15. We’ll publish a new print edition, and for video/image/music contributions, we are also staging a performance and screening in Sweden in the fall of 2016, as we did in 2013.

And.

Pea River Journal is open for submissions. We’ll publish a print issue, #4, in October 2016.

As always, no fees to submit.

It’s been a fraught wait, and now we joyfully anticipate what you might submit.

We hope you’ll join us.

An essay at Pragmata responds to “Self-Reliance”:

Our longing for an escape from the trap of physical technology, and in its stead an understood omnipresence, whether in the cloud or in the air or some massive invisible-to-the-user data center, is a collective act of faith, all of us wandering through the desert guided by a voice in a cloud we feed with the reverse manna of digital currency.

Do you love Moby-Dick? Remaking Moby is a chance to share that love.

The Remaking Moby-Dick Project is an International multimodal digital storytelling event that will be screened at the Mixing Realities Digital Performance Festival in May 2013 in Kalrkskrona, Sweden, but also published and recirculated in other forms. The project curator is currently seeking submissions and participants. Submissions can be as elaborate as you want or as simple as you reading a poem you’ve written in response to a scene in Moby-Dick.

We are sharing it with you because we know our readership has quickly grown to include artists, musicians, poets, videographers, and lovers of literature, and we just know you’ll have an interesting way to respond and contribute.

You can read more about the project on the Remaking Moby-Dick blog and in the call for contributors.
